Check out the full-length trailer that’s arrived for Red Dot, an upcoming Netflix thriller that marks the streamer’s first feature film from Sweden.
The film follows a couple, David and Nadja (played by Anastasios Soulis and Nanna Blondell, respectively), who head on ski hike, wanting to rekindle their rocky relationship after she becomes pregnant. A run-in with a couple of local hunters turns into something more deadly when they discover that a sniper has them in their sights.
While the trailer doesn’t give away too much, it certainly appears that this is one tense and grim outing. Although without the scathing class spotlight, the film’s ‘couple in for a bad time’ plot reminds of the fantastic and oh-so brutal 2008 thriller Eden Lake; we’ll see if this comes with as bleak an ending. Interestingly, the trailer’s final moment and the synopsis below suggests that this couple’s past may have something to do with what’s going down.
Red Dot, directed and co-written by Alain Darborg, whose credits include crime-thriller series Alex and action-comedy feature The Master Plan, will be streaming on Netflix from February 11th.
Official synopsis for Red Dot:
Red Dot is a Swedish action thriller set in the Swedish mountains and follows David and Nadja, a couple in their late twenties, who’ve been struggling with their marriage. When Nadja becomes pregnant they make an attempt to rekindle their relationship and decide to travel to the magnificent expanses in the north of Sweden for a ski hike. But after what started as a quarrel with two local hunters, their romantic trip slowly turns into a nightmare. Soon, a red laser dot appears in their tent and they are quickly forced to flee into the cold, unforgiving wilderness. Totally isolated in the mountains, they are now being pursued by reckless shooters. Meanwhile, during this sadistic hunt, the couple’s past also comes back to haunt them.
