Netflix is on the lookout for the next global hip hop sensation with the competition event series Rhythm + Flow.
The streaming giant has released the first teaser trailer for the show, which has hip hop stars Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Tip “T.I.” Harris as judges and a search for talent across L.A., New York, Atlanta and Chicago.
“This is hip hop’s first legit TV competition,” says Chance, referring to the fact that the majority of musician television competitions shows incorporate various musical genres and talents, not just hip hop.
The three judges are also on board as executive producers, with a EP team that includes Jeff Gaspin for Gaspin Media; Jesse Collins for Jesse Collins Entertainment; Nikki Boella; John Legend, Mike Jackson, and Ty Stiklorius for Get Lifted Film Co.; and Jeff Pollack.
Rhythm + Flow will run for three weeks, with 10 episodes in total. As per the US dates, episodes 1-4 (audition process) hit Netflix on Wed Oct 9, eps 5-7 (cyphers, rap battles and music videos) on Wed Oct 16, and eps 8-10 (samples, collabs, finale) on Wed Oct 23.
