The first Spider-Man film brought to us by both Marvel and Sony will include one of the biggest heroes from the MCU, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

As per Variety, Robert Downey Jr. has joined the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Although there aren’t any plot details available at this time, Iron Man’s inclusion in the film makes perfect sense. As we all saw in that ridiculously awesome trailer, Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, is on team Iron Man, and word is that even the web-slinger’s costume comes with enhancements provided by Stark Industries. In the comics Peter Parker comes to regard Stark as a mentor of sorts, at least until around half-way through the Civil War.

We’ll no doubt find more of what brings Tony and Peter together in Spidey’s first Marvel outing, Captain America: Civil War, which hits Australia next week and the U.S. on May 6.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car) and starring Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, is set for U.S. release on May 6.
