Robert Pattinson and Carice van Houten, known for playing Melisandre (aka The Red Woman) in HBO’s Game of Thrones, have been cast alongside Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce in a thriller titled Brimstone.
According to Screen Daily, Brimstone “will follow a heroine on the run from her past and a diabolical preacher. Robert Pattinson will play an outlaw.”
Martin Koolhoven (Winter in Wartime) is attached to write and direct.
Embankment Films is currently in the process of selling the project at the European Film Market in Berlin.
“Wasikowska is a powerhouse performer,” Embankment co-founder Tim Haslam said. “Guy Peace plays a hunter who unleashes hell. Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerising woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot.” Intriguing.
Upcoming Pattinson projects include Anton Corbijn’s Life, which will see Dane DeHaan play James Dean, and Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert, co-starring James Franco, Nicole Kidman and Damian Lewis.
