Check out Taron Egerton belting out Elton John’s hit song “Tiny Dancer.”

Egerton could have himself quite the showcase role in the upcoming Elton John fantasy-biopic Rocketman. A new behind-the-scenes featurette released for the film highlights Egerton’s singing, which has received high praise from the man himself. As music producer Giles Martin states: “Elton John said, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron.'”

“It’s been the greatest joy of my professional life making this film,” says Egerton, who may have an award-caliber film here if the stars align. And to think it was only five years ago that he broke out in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.

The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher, who’s coming off quite the music-biopic hit. Fletcher was hired to finish of Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer was fired during production; Singer remained credited as that film’s overall director, with Fletcher credited as one of the executive producers. Rocketman‘s script comes from Oscar-nominated screenwriter Lee Hall, known for Billy Elliot, War Horse and Victoria & Abdul.

Rocketman, also starring Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard, arrives in Australia on May 30 and hits the US on May 31. You can also find the film’s new poster, photographed by renowned photographer and music video director David LaChapelle, beneath the trailer.
