Director Ron Howard, the Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind helmer with In the Heart of the Sea on the horizon, will soon be at the helm of a thriller from Universal Pictures.
According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has gotten a hold of the screen rights to J.P. Delaney’s thriller novel The Girl Before. The studio has placed Ron Howard on directing duties for the adaptation, which will also see Howard producing alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins.
The Girl Before tells the story of a traumatised girl who falls in love with a simple house and the man behind its design. Things get complicated when she discovers that another psychologically troubled woman died in this very house three years earlier.
Universal apparently acquired the project in quite a big auction, with TriStar Pictures and Paramount Pictures among the companies that competed for the rights. Expect to see some big names attached when casting begins.
