After ass-kicking turns in The Expendables 3, Furious 7, and Entourage, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is set to take on a much bigger acting role with her own biopic.
According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to Rousey’s autobiography My Fight/Your Fight, which she wrote with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz. The book tells of the challenges she faced on the road to success.
Mark Bomback, whose writing credits include Live Free or Die Hard (aka Die Hard 4.0), The Wolverine, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, will be adapting the autobiography and is also on board as executive producer.
Apart from starring in the film, Rousey is also attached as producer alongside Mary Parent (Godzilla, Pacific Rim, The Revenant).
“It’s a real honor to be a part of bringing Ronda’s incredible story to the big screen,” Variety quotes Parent as saying.
Rousey, who had yet another impressive winning fight a few days ago, knocking out Bethe Correia in 34 seconds, is said to have one more fight this year and will then be starting production on Mile 22, a Peter Berg-directed actioner also starring Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais.
