Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil series with Netflix has just added quite a big name to its cast. Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Death Proof, Trance) is the latest addition to the highly anticipated series, with Marvel announcing that she is to play “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.”
It’s certainly a vague description of her character, with no word whether she’ll be playing an original character or one that derives from the comics.
Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, had this to say about her casting:
“Rosario Dawson is one of the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
Dawson will be starring alongside Charlie Cox, who is to play Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio, who is to play lead villain The Kingpin.
So, who could Rosario Dawson be playing? Fellow hero Elektra? Daredevil love-interest Karen Page? Or just a new character altogether? The 13-episode series premieres on Netflix in 2015.
