Rose Leslie, best known for playing Ygritte (“You know nothing, John Snow.”) in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, is set to join Vin Diesel in an upcoming supernatural actioner titled The Last Witch Hunter. The Summit Entertainment picture will follow a semi-immortal witch hunter (Diesel) who pursues witches on the streets of modern New York City. He is forced to partner with a female witch in order to stop a villainous witch queen from obtaining a relic and unleashing a plague upon humanity. Rose Leslie is to play a witch and Diesel’s love interest.
Breck Eisner, who directed Sahara and The Crazies, is at the helm of The Last Witch Hunter. The idea for the film came as a pitch from Cory Goodman, who penned the Paul Bettany-starring action-horror flick Priest. A few screenwriters have gone through drafts of The Last Witch Hunter, including D.W. Harper, Dallas Buyers Club writer Melisa Wallack, and, most recently, Gods of Egypt writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. Diesel is also producing the picture, alongside 300 producers Mark Canton and Bernie Goldmann.
The Last Witch Hunter is expected to start shooting this coming August.
Before we get to see Rose Leslie as a witch with the hots for Diesel, we’ll be seeing her in the indie drama Sticky Notes. Ray Liotta and Gina Rodriguez star in that one.
