The trailer has arrived for Run, an upcoming suspense-thriller that finds Sarah Paulson playing a mother with potentially sinister secrets.
The plot follows a wheelchair-bound, home schooled teenager (played by newcomer Kiera Allen) who begins to suspect that her mother (Paulson) is keeping a dark secret from her. Is she even her real mother? Or is there more to it?
The creepy mum plot can make for some good thrills, and it sure looks like Run will be packing them in. The film comes from director Aneesh Chaganty, who broke out in a big way with the fantastic tech-thriller Searching (really, see it if you haven’t). He also co-wrote the screenplay, reuniting with his Searching co-writer Sev Ohanian.
Run will be in U.S. cinemas on May 8, just in time for Mother’s Day, of course.
Official synopsis for Run:
They say you can never escape a mother’s love… but for Chloe, that’s not a comfort — it’s a threat. There’s something unnatural, even sinister about the relationship between Chloe (newcomer Kiera Allen) and her mom, Diane (Sarah Paulson). Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth, and there are secrets that Chloe’s only beginning to grasp. From the visionary writers, producers and director of the breakout film Searching, comes a suspense thriller that shows that when mom gets a little too close, you need to RUN.
