Anthony and Joe Russo certainly impressed with their work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so much so that Marvel’s putting them at the helm of some of their biggest upcoming on-screen chapters.
Badass Digest reports that the Russo brothers will be directing BOTH parts of Avengers: Infinity War.
Yes, the Russos will be directing Avengers: Infinity War – Part I and Part II, with both films expected to be shot back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.
BD also reports that Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who have penned the previous two Cap films and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, are in negotiations with Marvel to write both Infinity War films. The writers worked very well with the Russos on Winter Soldier, so Marvel’s obviously looking to keep that teamwork going.
Winter Soldier was more than a solid entry in the Marvel film cannon; it was a standout. We placed it at number 2 on our Top Ten Movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we’re damn excited that Marvel is looking at the Russos to helm what will inevitably be two extremely momentous pictures.
Avengers: Infinity War – Part I is due to hit the States on May 4, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War – Part II is to follow a year later, landing on May 3, 2019.
