The Scream series is returning – after a three-and-half-year break.
The television adaptation of the slasher movie franchise is heading to VH1 this time around, leaving its original home on MTV. As per THR, it’s a “retooled” return of the series, with six two-hour episodes and… wait for it… the return of the original Ghostface mask!
Yes, following the reimagining of the mask for the first two seasons, the serial killer here will back sporting that Ghostface design. On top of that, Roger Jackson is also back as the voice. The rebooted series – which comes with the title Scream: Resurrection – will feature an all-new cast, including Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, Tyga, Giorgia Whigham, and Paris Jackson (as guest star). Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural) is on board as showrunner of this overhaul, which also brings with it a new premise and location.
The plot of chapter three follows local football star Deion Ellion (RJ Cyler), whose tragic past returns to haunt him and his future plans – as well as the lives of his buddies. Scream: Resurrection kicks off on VH1 on July 8.
