‘Shock and Awe’ Trailer: Woody Harrelson & James Marsden Uncover Motives Behind Iraq War

Take a look at the trailer released for the upcoming true story picture Shock and Awe, starring Woody Harrelson, James Marsden and Tommy Lee Jones.

The film is set in 2003, when the George Bush administration decided to invade Iraq with the claim that Saddam Hussein was holding weapons of mass destruction. Harrelson and Marsden play journalists looking into the claim, uncovering more than they imagined when various sources came forward saying that the Government was in fact lying.

Shock and Awe certainly seems to have a lot going for it, with strong leads, important, timely material to explore, and direction from Rob Reiner, who gave us Misery, Stand by Me, When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men. Alas, the trailer seems to be going through the motions, and the early reviews aren’t crash hot either, commending the intentions but criticising the execution. I suppose we’ll see.

Harrelson, Reiner and screenwriter Joey Hartstone previously worked together on Lyndon B. Johnson biopic LBJ, which hit the US in November, 2017 and will arrive in Australia on May 31, 2018.

Shock and Awe, also starring Reiner, Jessica Biel, and Richard Schiff, hits US cinemas on July 13.
