The first trailer has been unveiled for Sinners, an upcoming horror film directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan. Take a look at the highly promising trailer above and the film’s first poster below.
Sinners marks the latest collaboration between Coogler and Jordan, who have previously teamed up on critically acclaimed projects like Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther – all directed by Coogler. Jordan made his feature directorial debut with Creed III, which Coogler produced and had a ‘Story By’ credit on.
In this film, Jordan takes on dual roles as twin brothers attempting to escape their troubled past by returning to their hometown, only to confront a more ominous threat awaiting them. While Warner Bros. and the trailer aren’t making it crystal clear, it’s all but been officially confirmed as to what this threat is: vampires.
The ensemble cast features Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Bumblebee), Jack O’Connell (Unbroken), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), Jayme Lawson (The Woman King), Omar Benson Miller (Ballers), and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods).
Coogler is writer and director of the film, and also serves as producer alongside longtime collaborators Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler. The executive production team includes composer Ludwig Göransson (the Oppenheimer Oscar winner also made the score for this film), Will Greenfield, and Rebecca Cho.
Behind the camera, the film reunites Coogler with key members of his creative team from the Black Panther franchise. Director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, composer Göransson, and Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter all contribute their expertise to the project.
Notably, Sinners was shot using IMAX film cameras, promising an immersive visual experience for audiences. Just judging on the trailer alone, the visuals on this thing look gorgeous. It should make for a big screen treat.
Sinners will open in Australian cinemas on March 6th and US cinemas on March 7th.
