The big official trailer has arrived for Ryan Coogler’s upcoming vampire horror film, Sinners. It’s very exciting stuff – and it might just reveal a little too much. Take a look above.
Michael B. Jordan stars in a dual role as twin brothers who return to their hometown in an attempt to escape their troubled past—only to find themselves drawn into something even more sinister. The film’s strong ensemble includes Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, True Grit), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Wunmi Mosaku (Passenger), Jayme Lawson (The Woman King), Omar Benson Miller (True Lies), and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods).
Coogler, known for the Black Panther films, Creed, and Fruitvale Station, looks to have a brooding, unnerving horror picture here. The visual style on display above is striking – shoutout to cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever). The film also comes with a score by two-time Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Oppenheimer), who also serves as an executive producer.
OTHER POSTS:
As enticing as the trailer is, it also, arguably, gives away more than it should. One of the more eyebrow-raising reveals is that one of the twin brothers, played by Jordan, succumbs to the vampiric curse—a twist that could have been left for the film itself. And did we need to know that Hailee Steinfeld’s character also undergoes a transformation? Still, you never know – maybe these events happen early enough and there are plenty of other surprises left to experience.
Either way – pumped to see this one. Sinners is set for an Australian theatrical release on 17 April and a US theatrical release on 18 April.
