As per a synopsis released by Disney, Skeleton Crew “follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Jude Law. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”
The series introduces us to a diverse group of protagonists: Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith). Joining them are the enigmatic Jod Na Nawood (Law) and the droid SM-33, voiced by Nick Frost, the rugged first mate of the Onyx Cinder. The ensemble cast also includes Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon.
This series comes from Spider-Man Homecoming director Jon Watts and writer Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Robot & Frank), who also serve as showrunners.
Jon Watts shared with StarWars.com, “At its core, it’s a story about wanting to explore a world that’s bigger than your own. I think that’s something that people can relate to, no matter how old you are.”
Ford added, “Setting a new group of characters off on their first adventure is fascinating, especially getting to see how they will grow over time.”
The series features an impressive lineup of directors, including Watts, David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints), the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Everything Everywhere All at Once), Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Mandalorian), and Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters). The writing team is led by Christopher Ford and Jon Watts, with additional episodes written by Myung Joh Wesner. Executive producers include Christopher Ford, Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Co-executive producers are Chris Buongiorno, Karen Gilchrist, Carrie Beck, with Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki serving as producers.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will premiere on Disney+ on December 3, 2024.
