Slow West Trailer: Michael Fassbender & Ben Mendelsohn Go the Western Route

Michael Fassbender and Ben Mendelsohn in a dark comedy western? We’re there.

The first trailer for Slow West has dropped, providing a look at what appears to be an amusing, dramatic, and altogether different type of western.

Kodi Smit-McPhee plays a 16-year-old boy who journeys across nineteenth century frontier America looking for the woman he loves. Along the way he is joined by a mysterious traveler (Fassbender) and pursed by an outlaw (Mendelsohn).

The featured debut of short filmmaker John Maclean, this has the makings of what could become a cult classic. The tone’s effectively odd, so we’re not surprised to learn that the film is kicking off a limited theatrical run in the U.S. on the same day it drops on iTunes: May 15.

We’ve got our fingers crossed for something special here.

Also starring Caren Pistorius, Rory McCann and Brooke Williams.
