Paramount Pictures has dropped the official trailer for the highly anticipated horror sequel, Smile 2. The follow-up to 2022’s surprise hit again thrusts audiences into an unsettling world of fear and psychological torment, this time with a new face at the centre of the terror. Watch it above.
Global pop sensation Skye Riley, portrayed by Naomi Scott (Aladdin), finds herself on the brink of a new world tour. However, her rising stardom takes a horrifying turn as she begins experiencing increasingly disturbing and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the terrifying visions and the pressure of fame, Skye must confront her dark past in a desperate bid to regain control before everything spirals out of reach.
The cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt (The Staircase), Lukas Gage (You), Miles Gutierrez-Riley (The Wilds), Peter Jacobson (House), Ray Nicholson (Licorice Pizza), Dylan Gelula (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Raúl Castillo (Cha Cha Real Smooth), and Kyle Gallner (Strange Darling), who reprises his role from the first film.
Smile writer and director Parker Finn returns for the sequel. The film is produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Parker Finn, and Robert Salerno.
The first film was a bonafide hit, grossing over $US217 million worldwide from a production budget of around $US17 million. Expectations are high for this sequel; fingers crossed it delivers.
Smile 2 is set to hit Australian cinemas on October 17 and US cinemas on October 18.
