If you’re in the mood for a feel-good story about second chances, spontaneous detours, and the kind of trip that doesn’t go to plan (but maybe works out better because of it), this one might be calling your name.
Solo Mio sees Kevin James (who also co-wrote the film) star as Matt Taylor, an earnest but heartbroken elementary school art teacher whose dream Italian wedding unravels in spectacular fashion when his fiancée leaves him at the altar in Rome. Suddenly single in what’s supposed to be the world’s happiest city, Matt finds himself with a honeymoon itinerary… and no bride.
Rather than fly home defeated, Matt decides to go it alone, setting off on the romantic Italian getaway he’d planned, just without the romance. As he navigates Italy’s vibrant culture, irresistible food and postcard-perfect scenery, he encounters a colourful mix of travellers and locals. Among them is Gia (Nicole Grimaudo), a spirited café owner who challenges him to see life, and himself, a little differently.
