Last year’s Goosebumps movie is getting a sequel.
Sony is putting together the pieces for a follow-up, reports THR. Goosebumps director Rob Letterman and screenwriter Darren Lemke have reportedly entered closing deals with the studio to return in their respective roles. Word is that Jack Black is being courted to return as author R.L. Stine.
The first film saw Stine and a group of teenagers, including the author’s daughter, on a mission to make things right after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware.
Goosebumps grossed $US156.6 million worldwide on an estimated production budget of $US58 million. That’s not a huge pull, but it’s solid enough for Sony to be confident in a sequel. The film is also said to have done strong business on the home entertainment end.
Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz are also returning to produce the follow-up. We’ll keep you informed.
