A strong trio have been lined up to star in Spiderhead, an upcoming Netflix film from director Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave).
Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country, Birds of Prey) will be starring in an adaptation of a short story by George Saunders titled Escape from Spiderhead – which was published in The New Yorker and you can read in full right HERE.
The plot is set in the near future and follows two prisoners who volunteer to be medical subjects in the hope of having their sentences reduced. In this facility, run by a brilliant visionary, they’re tested with drugs containing emotion-altering chemicals that force them to grapple with their pasts.
Deadline broke the news, reporting that the short story is being adapted by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, known for Deadpool, Zombieland and Life. The writers will also be producing the film alongside Hemsworth, Tommy Harper, Jeremy Steckler, and Oren Katzeff and Geneva Wasserman under the The New Yorker Studios banner.
Before we see what Kosinski delivers for Netflix, we’ll be witnessing what what aero-stunts he has in store in the delayed Tom Cruise sequel Top Gun: Maverick, which will also be starring Teller.
