Spider-Man is back on set — and rocking a brand-new suit. Sony Pictures has released the above teaser video, marking the start of production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Tom Holland revealing the new costume for the first time.
In the 22-second clip, Holland appears jogging in place inside a hangar, his outline gradually unveiled as the hangar doors open and light floods in. He turns around, walks up to the camera and flashes a smile before looking off-camera and asking, “We ready?” With that, he heads off — presumably to shoot his next scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Back to Basics: Holland on a More ‘Old-School’ Spider-Man
Speaking with Flip Your Wig prior to filming, Holland shared his excitement for the new chapter and highlighted a significant change in how Brand New Day is being made.
“I’m obviously over the moon and so excited,” Holland said. “Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal.”
He also reflected on the unique challenges of filming No Way Home during the pandemic. “We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID; we shot the entire film on stages.”
This time, it’s a different approach. “Now we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together.”
“It’s gonna feel like making [Homecoming] again… it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air,” Holland added. “I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
A ‘Fresh Start’ for Peter Parker
Holland also spoke at CinemaCon earlier this year, teasing the emotional arc set to unfold.
“I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save the people that he loves most in the world,” he said. “So, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that.”
Production, Release Dates, and Returning Talent
Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The script is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who also wrote Holland’s previous three Spider-Man films (although they were among the six credited writers on Homecoming). Producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige return.
Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas are joining in undisclosed roles. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher will also appear.
The film is set for release in Australia on July 30, 2026, and in the U.S. on July 31, 2026.
