Smith voices ultra-confident super spy Lance Sterling, who finds himself in for quite the adventure when he’s teamed up with young genius scientist Walter Beckett (Holland). He’s soon transformed into a pigeon, of all things, and has to figure out how to use his feathered body to get the mission accomplished.
This marks the feature directorial debut for Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, who have art department credits with a number of animated films including the Ice Age and Transylvania movies. Written by Brad Copeland (The Inbetweeners, Arrested Development). It could be a fun family adventure, and the two leads should be energetic presences.
Spies in Disguise, also featuring voice work from Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, Rachel Brosnahan, and Rashida Jones, will be in US cinemas on December 25 and arrives in Australia on New Year’s Day 2020.
Official synopsis for Spies in Disguise:
Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But when events take an unexpected turn, this unlikely duo are forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require an almost impossible disguise – transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic… pigeon. Walter and Lance suddenly have to work as a team, or the whole world is in peril. “Spies in Disguise” flies into cinemas this New Year’s Day.
