Entertainment One

The first trailer has arrived for Stan & Ollie, an upcoming dramedy that finds Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly playing legendary comedy double act, Laurel and Hardy.

The biopic will be following Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy as they embark on a tour that will end up becoming a triumphant farewell for the beloved double act. We’re given some insight into the pressures of their schedules, their potential disagreements, and the roles their wives – (Shirley Henderson) and Ida (Nina Arianda) – played in their success.

It looks like an amiable film, with two fantastic leads seemingly suiting their roles perfectly. Directing is Jon S. Baird, who directed the very dark comedy James McCavoy-starring Filth. The script comes from Jeff Pope, who earned an Oscar nomination with Coogan for writing the emotional true-story drama Philomena.

Stan & Ollie, also starring Danny Huston, Rufus Jones, and Susy Kane, will be hitting UK cinemas on 11 January and arrives in Australia on 21 February, 2019.

The true story of Hollywood’s greatest comedy double act, Laurel and Hardy, is brought to the big screen for the first time. Starring Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly as the legendary movie icons, Stan & Ollie is the heart-warming story of what would become the pair’s triumphant farewell tour.

With their golden era long behind them, the pair embark on a variety hall tour of Britain and Ireland.
