Paramount Pictures has released a big new trailer for Star Trek Beyond, the third film in the rebooted cinematic franchise kicked off by J.J. Abrams.
The crew of the Enterprise have been on a bit of a break, and they’re about to wish they stayed on land. The Enterprise is in the midst of a five-year mission when they’re brought down on a new planet and a new villain, Krull (Idris Elba), comes to the forefront.
The new trailer offers up quite a lot of new footage from the picture, giving us a much better look at the film compared to what was delivered in that first trailer, which even Simon Pegg wasn’t a fan of. It remains to be seen if Justin Lin, who took the Fast & Furious franchise to a wild new tone with his direction on films 4, 5 and 6, can continue this franchise in strong fashion. At least from the trailer below, things are looking promising.
Star Trek Beyond, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Idris Elba, Karl Urban and Sofia Boutella, will hit Australian cinemas on July 21 and U.S. cinemas on July 22.
