First ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Trailer Promotes Jean-Luc’s Wine

CBS All Access

Take a look at the teaser trailer to arrive for Star Trek: Picard, the upcoming series that will catch up with the fan-favourite character embodied by Sir Patrick Stewart.

“You commanded the greatest rescue armada in history,” says a voice over in the teaser, which plays out like a commercial for the Chateau Picard wine brand. “Then… the unimaginable. What did that cost you?”

What indeed. It’s an intriguing teaser, suggesting that Picard may be more than a little perturbed from his experiences over the years – and particularly from that aforementioned rescue. “I stress, he may not be a Captain anymore. He may not be the Jean-Luc that you recognise and you know so well,” Stewart told the crowd at last year’s Las Vegas Star Trek Convention. “Twenty years will have past, which is more or less exactly the time between the very last movie – Nemesis – and today.”

This one’s coming from Alex Kurtzman, co-creator/executive producer of Star Trek: Discovery. The creative team also includes James Duff (Star Trek: Discovery executive producer), Kirsten Beyer (Discovery writer), former Discovery EP Akiva Goldsman and Michael Chabon. Our review of Discovery‘s second season, by the way, can be found HERE.
