The official trailer has arrived for Star Wars anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, an eight-episode limited series from Lucasfilm and Production I.G that expands one of Star Wars: Visions’ most beloved stories into a full-blown adventure. Lah Kara returns in a distant galaxy where Jedi have faded into legend, lightsabers are rare, and the Force still has plenty to reveal.
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi Trailer Continues Kara’s Journey
The trailer brings viewers back to the world first introduced in Star Wars: Visions Volume 1 short “The Ninth Jedi” and continued in Volume 3’s “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.” This time, the story is getting room to breathe across an eight-episode limited series, marking a major expansion for the Visions banner.

The series picks up not long after the events of the shorts, with Lah Kara continuing her Jedi training under Margrave Juro. Kara and Juro’s small fellowship of Jedi-in-training set out on a dangerous quest to save her father, Lah Zhima, a sabersmith whose work may be vital in a galaxy where lightsabers have become almost impossible to find.
The footage promises a much bigger chapter, with new enemies, sweeping sci-fi imagery, high-speed action and plenty of lightsaber clashes. There is also a strong sense that the series will lean into the central question that made “The Ninth Jedi” stand out in the first place: what does it actually mean to be a Jedi when the old orders, rules and legends have all but disappeared?
A New Long-Form Chapter for Star Wars: Visions
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi launches the new “Star Wars: Visions Presents” banner, which will be used for longer-form stories within the Visions universe.
That makes this more than just a sequel to a fan-favourite short. It is the first Visions story to break out into its own limited series, giving Lucasfilm and Production I.G room to explore this alternate corner of the franchise in much greater detail.
The move also points to an interesting future for Visions itself. If this experiment connects, other standout shorts could be next in line for expansion.
The Creative Team and Voice Cast
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi is directed by Shunsuke Tada, written by Mitsuyasu Sakai and supervised by Kenji Kamiyama. Tada’s credits include Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, while Kamiyama is well known for projects such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
The executive producers are James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, with Hitoshi Ito and Kanako Shirasaki producing and Caroline Keller serving as co-producer.
The English dub voice cast includes returning performers Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Masi Oka as Ethan, Patrick Seitz as Homen, JP Karliak as Gramps and Simu Liu as Lah Zhima. Neil Kaplan also returns as The Narrator.
New English-language cast members include Feodor Chin as Gennoh, Young Mazino as Nawaam, Chase Sui Wonders as Tafflah and Keone Young as Kwana.
The returning original language voice cast includes Chinatsu Akasaki as Lah Kara, Tetsuo Kanao as Juro, Hiromu Mineta as Ethan, Hinata Tadokoro as Homen, Cho as Gramps and Shinichiro Miki as Lah Zhima. Akio Otsuka returns as The Narrator.

Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will premiere on August 5, 2026, on Disney+ in Australia and on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S.
