Lucasfilm, Disney and filmmakers Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie) have been looking for their young Han Solo, and it looks like the search is almost over.
THR has reported that three actors were picked from a group of ten, which includes Miles Teller (Whiplash), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), to take part in tests in London:
Alden Ehrenreich, who put in some great work in Coen bros film Hail, Caesar!…
Jack Reynor, whose credits include Transformers: Age of Extinction and Macbeth…
And Taron Egerton, who’s fast becoming a household name with lead roles in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Eddie the Eagle.
And Variety reporter Justin Kroll has added two more:
Blake Jenner, know for his role in Glee and in Richard Linklater’s upcoming Everybody Wants Some!!…
And Jack O’Connell, who has impressed in films such as Starred Up, ’71, and Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken.
Disney has yet to comment on the casting, so it’s still possible that we end up with someone that hasn’t been mentioned. We’ll keep you in the loop.
The currently-untitled Han Solo Star Wars anthology pic, which will also include Chewbacca’s origin story, is currently scheduled to hit the U.S. on May 25, 2018.
