Phenomenal Netflix series Stranger Things may have two more seasons after season 2 drops this October.
First of all, and unsurprisingly, yes, that means Stranger Things season 3 will happen. In an interview with Vulture, creators and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed that they’ve received the go-ahead for a third season.
The brothers also revealed that a fourth season will follow, and that’s when they’re thinking of ending the much-loved sci-fi horror series. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” Ross said.
They pointed out that it may be a bit of a challenge to explain why the lead characters continue to stay in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. “We just have to keep adjusting the story. Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.” Added Ross: “They’re going to have to get the fuck out of this town! It’s ridiculous!”
But before we get to season 3 and the possible final season 4, we have the second chapter to look forward to. “I told Matt, ‘I don’t want to call it season two, I just want it to feel like a movie sequel,’” said Ross. “If you have a successful movie, No. 2 is always a little bit bigger.”
All nine episodes of Stranger Things season 2 will hit Netflix on October 27.
