Netflix has unveiled one exciting teaser trailer for Stranger Things season 5. Yes, it’s being labelled a “teaser,” but with the sheer amount of new footage and story reveals, it plays more like a full trailer. It’s our first proper look at the highly anticipated final season, and it teases an emotional, chaotic, and action-heavy send-off that fans have been bracing for.

A Final Mission Begins as Hawkins Falls into Chaos
Set in the autumn of 1987, the new season picks up in the wreckage left behind after Hawkins was ripped open. With rifts now splitting the town and the government clamping down under military quarantine, the gang faces their darkest challenge yet: finding and killing Vecna.
The official synopsis notes that Vecna has “vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown,” forcing the reunited friends to push forward without knowing what’s coming. As Eleven is once again forced into hiding, a familiar unease settles in. The anniversary of Will’s disappearance is approaching, and with it, a growing sense that this nightmare is far from over.
Among the standout moments in the trailer: Dustin and the crew navigating a deadly bunker of kids, Lucas and others going quiet as a Demo-dog stalks nearby, Eddie Munson’s defaced tombstone, and a massive Upside Down portal looming like an apocalyptic wound. One blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment even shows a Demogorgon leaping through the trees like a grotesque action hero.
Two key voice lines do stand out. Jonathan tells Nancy, “After what we’ve been through. This thing… It ties us together. Forever.” And Hopper (David Harbour) gives Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) the inevitable call to arms: “Wherever this blood leads… I need you to fight one last time. Let’s end this, kid.”
The Final Season Brings Everyone Back — and Vecna’s Return
The full party is back: Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna. Also appearing: Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, Amybeth McNulty, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, Nell Fisher, and Terminator legend Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay.
As teased in past interviews, the final season will dive deeper into the Upside Down’s origins, answering long-simmering questions from the show’s early days. According to Ross Duffer, “The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5.”
And yes—Vecna is mostly definitely back. The trailer ends on a chilling note, with a glimpse of the villain and a whisper that promises his return: “Found you.”
Release Plan: Volumes Drop Across the Holidays
Netflix is closing out the series across three releases. Volume 1 (Episodes 1–4) lands on November 26. Volume 2 (Episodes 5–7) drops on Christmas Day. And the eighth and final episode—likely feature-length—arrives on New Year’s Eve.
