Two New ‘Suicide Squad’ TV Spots Play with the Bad Guys

Warner Bros. has dropped two new television spots for Suicide Squad, and you can watch them both right here.

There’s a lot riding on Suicide Squad. The DCEU hasn’t kicked off smoothly, considering both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice were met with polarizing reactions. Their respective box office numbers have been just fine, mind you, but a few more lukewarm entries could start turning general audiences away from Warner Bros.‘ DC universe – regardless of the heroes/villains/anti-heroes in the spotlight.

We’ve got our hopes up for a fun and gritty pic here, and are holding David Ayer’s history (End of Watch, Fury) as a confidence booster. The slickly edited spots below keep the energy up and the tone decidedly entertaining. Like Deadpool showed, audiences are ready for funnier, edgier and wilder comic book adaptations. In other words, Suicide Squad could be just what we and Warner Bros. need following BvS.

Suicide Squad opens in Australia on August 4 and in the U.S. on August 5.

Synopsis for Suicide Squad:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
