Check out the full trailer to arrive for Swamp Thing, the soon-to-drop DC Universe series based on the comic character created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson.

The comics depict this humanoid/plant elemental creature as a being that fights to protect his swamp home, the environment, and humanity. It’s a little hard to tell how he’s going to be depicted in this series, seeing as he only gets a few quick snippets. Still, this thing does look pretty good. There’s plenty of body-horror and unsettling imagery on offer in the trailer, plus strong production value. Count us in.

The series comes from creators Gary Dauberman, who’s directed the upcoming Annabelle Comes Home, and Mark Verheiden (Daredevil, Ash vs Evil Dead). James Wan is on board as producer.

Swamp Thing, starring Andy Bean as the elemental superhero, Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade, Kevin Durand and Jennifer Beals, hits the DC Universe streaming service on May 31. We’ll see if Australia gets it on Netflix, as was the case with DC series Titans.

Official synopsis for Swamp Thing:

SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
