Sony Pictures Releasing UK has unveiled the first full trailer for T2: Trainspotting, the upcoming sequel that reunites us with the group of oh-so troubled mates we first met around twenty years ago.

Ewan McGregor is back as Mark Renton, who returns home and finds himself once again involved with Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). As the great new trailer shows, these boys haven’t matured much.

Having director Danny Boyle back at the helm is the only way this sequel has a chance of working, so it’s no wonder this follow-up looks like a perfect continuation. Fans of the first film will no doubt be keen to catch up with the gang after so many years, while everyone else has a potentially strong picture from an Academy Award-winning director to look forward to.

T2: Trainspotting will open in the UK on January 27, arrives in Australia on February 9, and hits the US in wide release on March 10.

Synopsis for T2: Trainspotting:

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.

Twenty years have gone by.
Much has changed but just as much remains the same.
Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.

They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Director Danny Boyle reunites the original cast: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle
