Tarantino Eyeing Waltz and Dern for The Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino has finished his latest screenplay. Deadline has reported that the Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s new script has a working title of The Hateful Eight, which sounds awesome already. Supporting the announcement he made last month, the new script is said to be another Western. Apparently, he has finished the draft and is in the process of showing it to actors that he has in mind.

Two actors have been revealed; one’s a surprise and the other isn’t. Bruce Dern and Christoph Waltz are said to be in Tarantino’s sights. Dern is certainly gathering accolades for his performance in Alexander Payne’s latest film Nebraska. In fact, many are suggesting that Dern is the frontrunner for this year’s Academy Award for Best Actor. Waltz’s name doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. The Austrian actor was transformed into a two-time Oscar-winner thanks to Tarantino, his performances in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained rightfully thrusting the actor into the spotlight.

At this time, this is all coming from the – mostly reliable – mouth of Deadline, so don’t hold us to it. Still, it’s all quite feasible. And how great would it be to see Dern and Waltz together delivering Tarantino’s dialogue? We’ll keep you informed on the developments.
