A teaser trailer has been released for Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Cinemax series The Knick, starring Clive Owen. The series will be set in downtown New York in 1900 and will centre on Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. The concept sounds great and this should be worth a watch, especially when you consider that this is what drove Soderbergh out of his supposed “retirement”. Soderbergh is directing all ten episodes of the original mini-series, which comes with the writing team of Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (Raising Helen, Big Miracle), who wrote the pilot for the series and who will serve as executive producers, along with Soderbergh, Owen, Michael Sugar (Rendition) and Gregory Jacobs (Behind the Candelabra).
Check out the teaser trailer below, which has a surprisingly dark tone. We can’t wait to see more.
The Knick airs on Cinemax this summer (U.S. season).
