Ted Lasso fans, rejoice! Apple TV+ has officially announced that Ted Lasso will be returning for season four, putting to rest the ongoing speculation about the future of its beloved football coach. After months of will-they-won’t-they whispers, Jason Sudeikis is back on board to reprise his Emmy-winning role as the ever-optimistic Ted Lasso.

The announcement sees the creative team behind the multi-award-winning comedy reunited, including co-creators Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Bill Lawrence. There’s also a notable addition this time around—Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Modern Family) has joined as executive producer under a new deal with Apple.

Speaking on what fans can expect from the next chapter at AFC Richmond, Sudeikis teased a shift in approach for the team. “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’” he said, “in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, echoed the excitement. “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief,” he said. “Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

The news marks an official continuation after 2023 saw fans bracing for the end, with season three thought to be the last. Even co-creator Bill Lawrence had been playing coy last year, hinting that a fourth season was a possibility—if Sudeikis was ready to return.

It looks like he was. And while Apple TV+ hasn’t confirmed the full returning cast just yet, Warner Bros. Television had already picked up options for key stars Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. Meanwhile, Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate Shelley, recently hinted that filming the new season was the reason behind rescheduling his stand-up tour.

There’s no word yet on when season four will hit Apple TV+, but with the creative team back in place—and Richmond ready to leap before they look—it’s officially game on.
