‘Ted Lasso’ Trailer: Jason Sudeikis Coaches English Soccer in Apple Comedy Series

Apple TV+

The official trailer has been released for upcoming Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, starring and co-created by Jason Sudeikis.

Based on Sudeikis NBC Sports promo sketches, the series follows Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who takes on a role coaching a professional soccer team across the pond, in England. If only he had knowledge about soccer in the first place.

It’s a charming-looking show that appears to be firmly in the ‘easy watch’ category, with some heart balancing jokes surrounding Lasso’s simpleton antics and the differences between the U.S. and England. Among the show’s development team is Bill Lawrence, known for creating Scrubs and co-creating Cougar Town.

Ted Lasso, also starring Stephen Manas, Colin Blyth, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Bronson Webb and Lampros Kalfuntzos, will be streaming on Apple TV+ from August 14th.

Official synopsis for Ted Lasso:

Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold also serves as an executive producer with Liza Katzer as co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.
