Teen Spirit is another look at the music biz in a period that has given us A Star is Born and Vox Lux.
Bleeker Street has unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming film, which finds Elle Fanning playing Violet, a shy teen who enters a local singing competition and gets a chance to escape her small town and make it in the music biz.
It looks like a relatively straightforward ‘path to potential glory’ film, as Violet navigates keeping her integrity and identifying industry sharks. After the tear-jerker that was A Star is Born and the experimental attitude of Vox Lux, this could be a solid chaser. It also gives fans of Fanning a chance to see her belting out hits from musicians such as Ellie Goulding, Robyn, Annie Lennox and more.
This marks the directorial debut for actor Max Minghella, who you may have seen in The Social Network, Horns and hit series The Handmaid’s Tale (where he plays Nick Blaine).
Teen Spirit, also starring Rebecca Hall, Zlatko Buric, and Agnieszka Grochowska, opens in US cinemas on April 5.
