Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first official image from the next Terminator film.
The studio took to social media to reveal the image, showcasing the still-untitled film’s three female leads, and they look decidedly badass. Check out the pic below, featuring Natalia Reyes (Halt and Catch Fire) on the left, Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049) in the centre, and yes, Linda Hamilton, back as the iconic Sarah Connor on the right. Be sure to scroll down for more info…
Reyes is our heroine in the next chapter, playing Dani, a young woman from a working class neighbourhood in Mexico City who finds herself in the battle between humans and machines, and Davis is playing Grace, a soldier-assassin from the future.
The cast also includes Diego Boneto (Rock of Ages) as Dani’s brother and Gabriel Luna (Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as a new Terminator. Arnold Schwarzengger is also expected to be back as The Terminator, although it may just be a small part.
While details are being kept under wraps, it has been confirmed that the film will be ignoring the last three Terminator films (Terminator3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genisys) and will be a follow-up to Terminator 2. It remains to be seen what they’ll do with the timeline or how John Connor will factor into it all this time around.
Directing the sixth Terminator film is Tim Miller, the special effects guru who made his feature directorial debut with Deadpool. James Cameron is producing the film and is apparently much more involved in this one.
The film is scheduled to open in Australia on 21 November 2019 and in the US on 22 November 2019.
