We’re thrilled to announce that we recently had the opportunity to chat with filmmaker Damien Leone, the creative force behind the Terrifier franchise, for an exclusive interview. With Terrifier 3 in Australian cinemas from October 10 and US cinemas from October 11, Leone took the time to talk to us about the uproariously bonkers, stomach-churning slasher horror film. Take a look at our chat above.
Terrifier 3 arrives with plenty of buzz following the viral success of Terrifier 2, which grossed $10 million at the US box office in 2022 and left audiences fainting and vomiting due to its extreme horror scenes. Now, Leone returns with a film that promises to be even bloodier and more terrifying, all while taking Art the Clown on a new rampage—this time, on Christmas Eve.
During our interview, we delved into the challenges of following up on such a successful sequel and discussed the pressure of living up to fan expectations. We also talked about the film’s Christmas setting, the importance of the film’s pitch-black comedy, the challenges that come with filming scenes involving children, and much more.
Leone also gave us insight into the future of the franchise, including how many more Terrifier films he sees himself crafting before stepping away. Plus, he told us which of the franchise’s many gnarly kills is his favourite and which kills from cinema are among his most memorable.
As Terrifier 3 shakes up cinemas, fans are in for another deliriously gnarly, sickly hilarious ride. Take a look at the interview above and the film’s trailer below.
