The first trailer has dropped for Thank You for Your Service, the upcoming PTSD drama starring Miles Teller.
Marking the directorial debut for Oscar-nominated American Sniper scribe Jason Hall, Thank You for Your Service tells the story of a number of PTSD-affected American servicemen and women that return from Iraq. Miles Teller plays U.S. soldier Adam Schumann and leads a cast that includes Haley Bennett, Joe Cole and Amy Schumer.
While it may be a touch heavy handed, at least to this writer, the trailer does show off a lot of enticing footage. Teller looks to be putting in another strong performance as a traumatised solider struggling to return to normality and a number of moments hint at what could be some very strong scenes.
Hall, who has also adapted David Finkel’s book, certainly received the accolades for his treatment of PTSD in American Sniper, so chances are you’re in good hands here if you found that film powerful. It’ll also be interesting to see how he fares as director with this kind of material.
Thank You for Your Service, also starring Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar J. Dorsey and Jayson Warner Smith, will open in the U.S. on October 27. No Australian release date has been locked in as yet.
