The first trailer has been released for The 9th Life of Louis Drax, an intriguing-looking psychological thriller starring Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon and Aaron Paul.
Based on the novel by Liz Jensen, The 9th Life of Louis Drax tells of a young boy, Louis (Aiden Longworth), who has survived eight near-death accidents in his life. When Louis plunges off a cliff on his ninth birthday, a neurologist (Dornan) begins to investigate the mysterious events in the boy’s life, while falling for his mother (Gadon). Could Louis’ father (Paul) have something to do with Louis’ fall? Perhaps a strange experiment will help the doctor find the truth.
It’s a strange-looking pic, one that mixes up a variety of different tones and genres, including melodrama, sci-fi and even horror. Whether or not it will all gel together well remains to be seen. The trailer, at the very least, has us interested.
Directed and co-written by horror helmer Alexandre Aja, known for High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes (remake), Piranha 3D and Horns.
The 9th Life of Louis Drax, also starring Aiden Longworth, Molly Parker, Barbara Hershey and Oliver Platt, is scheduled for U.S. release on September 2nd.
