Take a look at the first trailer for The Bad Batch, the upcoming film from A Girl Walks Home at Night filmmaker Ana Lily Amirpour.
Suki Waterhouse leads the cast of this interesting and bizarre-looking thriller-romance-sci-fi picture, playing a girl trying to survive a dystopian wasteland with cannibals, savages and… romance? The film has been described as a dystopian love story set in a community of cannibals, and it certainly looks like it could offer up a trippy, unique type of vision.
The cast here is pretty surprising. Apart from Waterhouse, the model-turned-actress leading her first picture here, the cast includes Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves, Giovanni Ribisi, Diego Luna and Jim Carrey.
Early reviews have been somewhat mixed, so I’m excited to give it a look and see on which side of the fence I fall on. So far, I’m in.
The Bad Batch will be hitting the US on June 23.
Synopsis for The Bad Batch:
The highly anticipated follow-up to Amirpour’s acclaimed directorial debut, A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, THE BAD BATCH follows Arlen (Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.
