Take a look at the first trailer to arrive for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, an upcoming Netflix film from Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo, Inside Llewyn Davis).
That’s right, the Coens are also on the Netflix bandwagon, and the acclaimed filmmaking brothers could very well have a winner here. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a six-part Western anthology film that tells tales set in the American frontier. Each chapter tells a distinct story about the American West.
It looks great, and oh-so Coens, with a dark sense of humour present throughout the trailer below. There’s a great cast, including Tim Blake Nelson as the titular Buster, Liam Neeson, James Franco and Brendan Gleeson, and the cinematography from 5-time Oscar nominee Bruno Delbonnel (Amélie, Inside Llewyn Davis, Darkest Hour) looks gorgeous. We can’t wait for this one.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will be hitting Netflix on November 16. The film will also have a limited theatrical release in the US, which makes it eligible for Oscars if things go well.
