The Boys is officially done filming its fifth and final season. After eight years of gore, satire, and unhinged super-powered mayhem, Prime Video’s flagship anti-superhero series has wrapped production, marking the beginning of the end for Butcher, Homelander, and the rest of the blood-soaked crew.
Showrunner Eric Kripke shared the news on July 1 with a heartfelt farewell from the set of Vought HQ. “This is the last time I’ll ever be on this set. It’ll be torn down soon. It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude,” Kripke wrote on Instagram.
“We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to wite, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them.”

He concluded with a message to the fans: “Thanks for watching, can’t wait for you to see the grand finale.”
Cast farewells and the emotional wrap
Multiple cast members shared their goodbyes on social media, reflecting on what this series has meant to them.
Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight, shared a farewell on Instagram, writing: “honestly, fuck ‘don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.’ the tears have begun. the posts are incoming. I said goodbye to most of my work family today and I’ll be ready to smile about it when I’m ready to smile about it. to my Boys fam: love you, c*nts. forever.”

Karen Fukuhara, who plays Kimiko, wrote: “I love her so much and above all, I’m really fucking proud of her… Through my most emotional, vulnerable, at times physically taxing scenes, [the crew] were there for me.”
Tomer Capone, who plays Frenchie, said: “Portraying Frenchie has been the longest journey I’ve ever taken with a character. And I loved every twisted, tender, explosive minute.”
Jessie T. Usher, who plays A-Train, posted: “What a run!!!!! 😭🙌🏾 …about 8 years later, we’ve finally reached the finish line! 5th & final season of @theboystv is WRAPPED! Where we left things in season 4
The season 4 finale didn’t just leave viewers with cliffhangers — it reshaped the entire playing field.
Butcher, now embracing the darker side of his psyche, used his new powers to kill Victoria Neuman and steal the virus designed to wipe out Supes. Ryan, after being told by Butcher to kill his own father, accidentally killed Mallory instead and fled. Meanwhile, Homelander’s grip on power reached terrifying new heights. With his enemies neutralised and the puppet strings firmly in his hands, he had the U.S. President removed, replaced with Steven Calhoun, who declared martial law and gave Homelander and his Supe army federal authority.
Annie, Frenchie, Hughie, and the rest of the Boys didn’t fare much better. Captured and separated, their fates are unclear — though Annie, having regained her powers, managed to escape. In a mid-credits scene, Homelander was shown Soldier Boy’s holding cell — setting the stage for a reunion that promises carnage.
When will The Boys season 5 be released?
While no official release date has been announced, don’t expect to see season 5 until sometime in 2026. Season 4 wrapped in April 2024 and didn’t premiere until June 2024 — so, assuming they’re going for a similar post-production window, that puts the final season at over a year away.
In the meantime, spin-off series Gen V is returning with Season 2 on September 17, while other spin-offs like Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico remain in development.
For now, fans will have to hold tight — the end is coming. Fingers crossed Season 5 gives us an explosive and satisfying farewell to one of the most daring shows on television.
