Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, the upcoming sequel to James Wan’s 2013 horror hit.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as Lorraine and Ed Warren, two real-life demonologists who reportedly battled evil during their various paranormal investigations. The sequel sees them head to London, where a single mother of four is being plagued by malicious spirits.
The Conjuring was a taught, carefully constructed picture, with more than a few genuine scares working to weaken that bladder. The first trailer for the sequel serves as more of a teaser, but it nevertheless works up the unease before providing a bit of an unsettling surprise. Fingers crossed – the right way up – that The Conjuring 2 is at least on par with the first film.
The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, also starring Frances O’Connor, Simon McBurney, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Sterling Jerins, opens in the U.S. on June 10.
The supernatural thriller brings to the screen another real case from the files of renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.
