Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) are all coming together in The Defenders, the 8-episode series set to hit Netflix on August 18.
“There’s an ancient criminal organisation whose goal is ultimate power,” Cox explains in a newly released featurette dropped by Netflix. “It’s clear to [the Defenders] that the only chance they have of saving New York is going to be if they work together.”
The marketing piece has the four leads touching on where their characters are when The Defenders kicks off. Daredevil has come close to calling it quits, Jones really doesn’t want anything to do with saving the city, Cage has come out of prison and is trying to figure out what’s next, and Iron Fist appears ready to continue his calling.
“We could easily turn our backs and just try and take care of ourselves,” says Colter, “but it’s not about us; that’s what being a hero is.”
Blind ninja. Smart-ass detective. Bulletproof ex-con. Kung Fu billionaire. Marvel’s The Defenders centers on four outsider heroes that have to put aside their personal issues and come together when a villainous sect threatens to destroy New York City as we know it. The Netflix original series launches globally on August 18, 2017.
