The third installment of the Divergent movie franchise is on the way, and the first trailer for the film has been released.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant, the penultimate film in the series since the last book is being split into two, sees Tris and co. make it over the walls enclosing Chicago. Once on the other side, shocking new truths lead to the group having to decide quickly who it is they can trust; the world could depend on it.
If you haven’t been following the plot up to this point, the first trailer offers up a quick summary on what’s gone down before. Of course, if you aren’t aware of the details, then you’ll still be somewhat lost. For all the fans, this will no doubt be a crucial next chapter, especially once Jeff Daniels’ character kicks off even more revelations.
Director Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler’s Wife) takes the helm this time around, and will also be directing the final film in the series, The Divergent Series: Ascendant.
Allegiant, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Daniel Dae Kim and Naomi Watts, will be hitting the U.S. on March 18, 2016.
