Denzel Washington reprises his role as Richard Lindheim in The Equalizer 2, which has a slick new trailer you can check out below.
The retired CIA black ops operative is living life as a Lyft driver, although he still teaches the bad guys a lesson or two when he catches them out of line. He’s thrown back into action when his friend Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) is killed.
If you were fan of the first film, the reunion of director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Magnificent Seven) and screenwriter Richard Wenk suggests you’re in safe hands in the sequel. It looks like a solid vigilante flick, and having Washington on board in a role he can ace in his sleep certainly doesn’t hurt.
The Equalizer 2, also starring Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders and Bill Pullman, will arrive in Australia on July 19 and opens in the US on July 20.
Official logline for The Equalizer 2:
Denzel Washington returns to one of his signature roles in the first sequel of his career. Robert McCall serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed – but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?
