The full-length trailer has dropped for upcoming series The Equalizer, a reimagining of the 1980’s series of the same name, which of course received a Denzel Washington-starring film reboot in 2014.
Oscar winner Queen Latifah stars in the series, playing Robyn McCall, who appears to most as an average single mother to a teenage daughter (Laya DeLeon Hayes, Raven’s Home). Of course, she’s actually a badass, a former CIA operative moonlighting as an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden. She’s also in pursuit of personal redemption. As she works to take down the baddies and help the oppressed and exploited, she gathers the attention of shrewd NYPD Detective Marcus Dante (Tory Kittles, True Detective), who’s looking to uncover the identity of the vigilante known as The Equalizer.
The series comes from Castle creator Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller, with Latifah also among the team of executive producers. The cast includes Lorraine Toussaint, Chris North, Liza Lapira and Adam Goldberg.
Take a look at the trailer below, and mark the date if it tickles your fancy: The Equalizer will premiere on CBS on Sunday, February 7th, after Super Bowl LV.
